Minimum quantity lubrication units

Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) eliminates the need for complex wet machining technologies for cutting operations. The principle is simple: a precise amount of lubricant is sprayed onto the tool's cutting edge. With MQL, lubricant consumption is measured in milliliters per hour rather than liters per minute.

SKF LubriLean enables the alternating use of dry and wet machining methods on a single machine. In addition to installation on new machines, the low-maintenance MQL devices can be used to retrofit most existing equipment.

With SKF LubriLean and Vectolub, SKF offers a complete range of minimum quantity lubrication solutions with both internal and external lubricant delivery. In MQL systems with internal lubricant delivery, the lubricant aerosol is delivered through the tool holder and the tool itself, while in external delivery systems, the lubricant is delivered through external lines and nozzles.

In the most modern internal lubrication systems, the amount of aerosol delivered can be controlled via the machine's PLC—an effective solution for machining centers. This eliminates the need for time-consuming adjustments to nozzle settings to ensure the aerosol reaches the correct lubrication point when the tool's shape or length changes.
